N. Florida beats Jacksonville 83-68 in Atlantic Sun opener

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Demarcus Daniels had 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead North Florida to an 83-68 victory over Jacksonville in an Atlantic Sun Conference opener on Saturday night.

Daniels made 10 of 15 shots. Dallas Moore and Nick Malonga added 13 points apiece for North Florida (12-6, 1-0), which has won three-straight games and seven of its last nine.

Kori Babineaux scored 30 points on 13-of-29 shooting from the field for Jacksonville (8-10, 0-1). Darius Dawkins added 17 points and Marcel White had 15 for the Dolphins.

The Ospreys had a double-digit lead six minutes into the game, led 33-22 at halftime and never trailed.

Jacksonville opened the second half with a 15-5 spurt to pull to 38-37 with 16 minutes left. Babineaux scored eight points and Dawkins made two 3-pointers during the span. North Florida answered with a 17-4 run and cruised from there.
