Krueger wins 500 and 1,500 in US Short Track Championships

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — John-Henry Krueger won the men's 500- and 1,500-meter finals Saturday in the U.S. Short Track Championships.

The meet determines the skaters for the ISU World Cup teams in Dresden, Germany; Dordrecht, Netherlands; and the world championship team in Seoul, South Korea.

Kruger took the 500 in 42.005 seconds, and the 1,500 in 2:22.869. Keith Carroll Jr. was second in both races.

Kimberly Goetz won the women's 500 in 44:069. Jessica Smith Kooreman followed in 44.162.

Kooreman won the 1,500 in 2:38.215. Goetz was second in 2:39.494.
