LAS VEGAS (AP) — A man has died after the motorcycle he was riding overturned on a Las Vegas road.

Las Vegas police say the incident happened Saturday shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Dean Martin Drive north of Flamingo Road.

According to police, witness statements and evidence indicate a Suzuki GSXR 750 motorcycle was traveling south on Dean Martin Drive when it overturned onto its left side.

The 26-year-old rider was thrown off the motorcycle and then hit the base of a light pole.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say this is the third traffic-related death so far this year.

The accident remains under investigation.

The rider's name will be released pending notification of next of kin.
