VIENNA (AP) — Austrian ski jumper Gregor Schlierenzauer has ended his season because of a persistent lack of form.

The World Cup record-holder with 53 individual wins says he won't compete in the ski flying world championships next week or any other World Cup this season.

Schlierenzauer, who turns 26 on Thursday, returned from a three-week layoff to compete in the Four Hills Tour. After performing far from his best, he was left out of the Austria team for the final stop in Bischofshofen on Wednesday.

He says on his website, "after the Bergisel jumping (in Innsbruck), the disappointment has ended all passion."

A two-time overall World Cup champion, Schlierenzauer won the Four Hills Tour in 2012 and 2013. His 14th place in Lillehammer, Norway, in early December was his best result this season.
