FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — John Gillon sank a free throw in the final second to give Colorado State the win, edging UNLV 66-65 on Wednesday night.

Gillon's winning free throw came with a second on the clock after UNLV's Patrick McCaw hit a layup to tie the game at 65 with seven seconds remaining. Gillon was fouled with a second to play and went to the line for two. He missed the first.

The Rams (9-6, 1-1, Mountain West Conference) led 33-29 at the break but UNLV used a 16-4 run in the second half to take a 48-43 lead with 11:16 to play. The Rebels (9-6, 0-2) held the advantage until Jeremiah Paige hit a layup with 11 seconds left to put the Rams on top, 65-63.

Tiel Daniels led Colorado State with 12 points. Emmanuel Omogbo and Prentiss Nixon added 11 points apiece.

Ben Carter led UNLV with 16 points.
