GRAMBLING, La. (AP) — Ervin Mitchell scored 17 points and Nigel Ribeiro added 16 as Grambling State defeated NAIA-member Jarvis Christian 80-58 Wednesday night.
Mitchell, Carlton Lowe and Mark Gray jumpstarted Grambling (5-9) on offense. Gray's 3-pointer put the Tigers up 19-9. Grambling pushed the lead to 14 points and Grambling took a 43-25 lead at intermission.
Jarvis Christian cut the lead to six before the Tigers put the game away and raced to a 27-point lead with three minutes left in the game.
Deonte Hearns finished with 14 points, shooting 7 for 11 from the field and snaring 13 rebounds. Lowe finished with 13 points. Grambling shot 51.7 percent from the field to 30 percent for the Bulldogs.
Chris Key finished with 15 points and nine boards, and Dion Malone scored 13 for Jarvis Christian (1-10).
The game was a matchup rescheduled from Dec. 5.
