CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago police say two teenagers were killed and a third was wounded as they stood on a South Side street corner.
Police spokeswoman Officer Michelle Tannehill says the teens were killed by shots fired Tuesday from a passing SUV.
Authorities say a 16-year-old boy was shot in the head and a 17-year-old girl was shot in the chest. Both were pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in suburban Oak Lawn. A 16-year-old boy was shot in the hand and hospitalized in good condition. No suspects have been arrested.
The shooting occurred the same day President Barack Obama lamented the gun violence in his Chicago hometown as he promoted his executive action tightening the sale of firearms.
