FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) — A former high school teacher has admitted that he had inappropriate relationships with two female students.
Former Monmouth Regional High School teacher Nicholas DePue pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of child endangerment. Monmouth County prosecutors will recommend that the 29-year-old Jackson man receive a five-year prison term when he's sentenced April 22.
He also will have to register as a sex offender.
DePue admitted sending inappropriate text messages and/or having sexual contact with the girls, who were 16 and 17 when the incidents occurred in the early months of 2015.
Both teens were students at the school in Tinton Falls. But authorities have not said if either girl took any classes that DePue taught.
