LUDLOW, England (AP) — Richard Johnson reached his 3,000th career win when he claimed another victory on his march to the British champion jockey title on Monday.

The 38-year-old English jockey made it to the landmark by winning aboard St Saviour at Ludlow.

Johnson's career tally is made up of 2,977 jump wins in Britain, 17 in Ireland, four wins on the flat and two international victories.

Johnson needs four more wins to reach 3,000 over jumps, which would make him the second jockey to achieve the feat after racing great AP McCoy.

It was Johnson's 172nd winner of the season, putting him 70 victories clear at the top of this year's standings. Johnson has never been champion jockey, but is overwhelming favorite this season after McCoy's retirement in April.
