PITTSBURGH (AP) — A school van slid on snow into a barrier on a ramp from the Liberty Bridge to the Veterans Bridge, sending a 7-year-old Pittsburgh Public Schools student to a hospital with a facial cut.
The crash happened at about 7:50 a.m. Monday.
School district spokeswoman Ebony Pugh couldn't immediately say how many students were in the van but says the girl was the only one known to have an injury at the scene. Another student complained of ankle pain once the others arrived at Pittsburgh Sunnyside, which has students from prekindergarten through eighth grade.
Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Emily Schaffer says the student with the facial cut was taken to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.
Pugh says the parents of all students aboard the van have been notified.
