HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (AP) — A 28-year-old man faces charges that he inappropriately touched an 8-year-old girl at a Long Island public library.
Suffolk County police say they arrested Christopher Elgut of Huntington on Sunday.
They say the incident allegedly occurred Sunday afternoon as the girl stood behind her mother at the front counter of the Huntington Public Library.
Police say Elgut allegedly picked up the girl and "inappropriately touched" her behind a column. They say the girl screamed and he fled.
He's charged with sex abuse, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of marijuana.
It wasn't immediately clear if he had a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
