This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

While working as an aerobics instructor, Megan Adams became frustrated with the available fitness clothing. She wanted something comfortable, fashionable and durable but had a difficult time finding what she was looking for. She decided to look into starting her own fitness clothing company.

Megan has always had an eye for clothing design and she worked in retail stores in both high school and college. She also has a degree in business from Colorado State University, which helped her as she planned her new business. She spent two years researching patterns, making contacts, attending textile shows and figuring out how to get her product manufactured. Her hard work paid off when she launched Impact Fitness in May 2001.

Impact Fitness designs, manufactures and sells women's fitness apparel. Products range from mainstream fitness wear designed for activities such as Pilates, yoga, spinning and step aerobics, to sports-specific team wear for tennis, golf, cycling and running. Clothing is intended to be fashionable and comfortable enough so women can wear it other places besides the gym if they want to.

Megan does her best to keep up on current fitness wear trends and design clothing flattering to women. Many of Impact's pants and shorts sit just below the waist and are slightly looser through the hip and thigh. The current trend is low-rise capris paired with long length tank tops.

Although Impact Fitness is headquartered in Holladay, the business is Internet-based and can be found at www.impactfitnesswear.com. Megan is in the process of launching a new version of the Impact Web store, which should be complete by the end of the summer. She is also considering the possibility of opening a flagship retail location in Salt Lake City. In the meantime, the most important thing is to provide a technical, fashionable and athletic clothing line for women of all shapes and sizes.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
