SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah House Rep. Jack Draxler says he will not run for re-election next year.

Draxler, a Republican from North Logan, announced his decision in a statement Wednesday.

The lawmaker said he now wants to do something in life that he and his wife wish to accomplish together. He did not offer further details or immediately return a message.

He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2006.

Before that, he served as the mayor of North Logan and a planning commissioner in northern Utah's Cache County.
