FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas State Police have arrested former Razorback basketball player Michael Qualls on suspicion of drug possession.

A preliminary arrest report says officers stopped Qualls for speeding about 8 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 49 in Fayetteville. Officers smelled marijuana, searched the truck and found a bag containing apparent marijuana residue and a marijuana cigar.

The report says officers noticed Qualls' necklace was also a smoking device.

Qualls is facing three misdemeanor counts of speeding, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. No attorney information was available.

Qualls turned pro this spring after his junior year at Arkansas, where he averaged 15.9 points per game as the Razorbacks made their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2008. He was signed by the Oklahoma City Thunder but was waived in October.
