PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Parts of New York and New England are getting snow and sleet, a spinoff of the severe weather that hit the Midwest earlier. The weather made for a sloppy mess in parts of metro Boston, where one resident shrugged it off, saying: "Weather is weather."

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — A moderate earthquake shook an inland area of Southern California near San Bernardino Tuesday night, giving a start to thousands across a heavily populated area. No immediate reports of damages or injuries.

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has returned after cutting short a family vacation in Cuba. Emanuel is under pressure from community activists to resign since a video of a white police officer shooting black teenager Laquan McDonald was released last month.

BERLIN, N.H. (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton says she now believes the Islamic State group's persecution of religious and ethnic minorities should be defined as "genocide." Clinton's declaration came at a town hall in New Hampshire.

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) — Billionaire Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says he plans to spend at least $2 million a week on television advertising in the first three voting states. The front-runner has spent nothing on TV to date, relying heavily on free media exposure.
