CLEVELAND (AP) — Rob Edwards scored a career-high 21 points, mostly on the strength of 5-for-5 shooting from 3-point territory, and grabbed nine rebounds as Cleveland State defeated Division II Cedarville 77-37 Tuesday night.

Kenny Carpenter pitched in 14 points and a career-best nine assists for the Vikings (5-8), Daniel Levitt scored 11 points and Jibri Blount 10.

Easton Bazzoli led the Yellow Jackets (5-8) with 11 points.

Cedarville led 13-3 before Cleveland State launched a 17-4 run to go up 20-17 on a Carpenter 3-pointer. The Vikings kept going, leading 43-26 at the half.

Demonte Flannigan, after Cedarville stole the ball from him and scored, pounded down six straight points in 50 seconds in the second half, including a dunk. He finished with nine points and three blocked shots.

Cleveland State opens Horizon League play Saturday. Cedarville and Cleveland State met 12 times between the 1954-55 and 1966-67 seasons, the Yellow Jackets winning eight.
