SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah chapter of Planned Parenthood is appealing a U.S. judge's ruling allowing the state's Republican governor to cut off federal funding to the organization. The Planned Parenthood Association of Utah filed a notice asking the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver to block Gov. Gary Herbert's order cutting off the funds. Last week, a federal judge in Utah declined to temporarily stop Herbert's order while a Planned Parenthood lawsuit against the state moves forward.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — State data shows more people were stopped for texting, emailing or checking Facebook on their cellphones behind the wheel on Utah's highways in a six-month snapshot of 2015. The Utah Highway Patrol says the number of stops grew by 13 percent. Studies show that pulling people over helps curb the habit.

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Police say they've arrested two women and a man they believe stole more than $5,200 worth of baby formula and a few other items from northern Utah stores. Logan Police say the three were arrested and are being held in the Cache County jail on suspicion of theft and other charges. The three do not yet have attorneys.

ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — Dixie State University has narrowed the list of possible new nicknames to three: Trailblazers, Sun Warriors and Raptors. The Spectrum in St. George reports the finalists were chosen following an Internet survey. The name change is part of a school rebrand. The current nickname is the Red Storm. School officials hope to make a decision in the spring.
