SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah's Snowbird ski resort has opened its new restaurant The Summit at 11,000 feet above sea level.
The grand opening for the two-story, 23,000-square-foot building was Saturday. From its location at the top of the tram on Hidden Peak, The Summit offers expansive views of Salt Lake valley. It can seat 400 diners.
Officials say it was challenging to get building materials to the site without damaging the environment. The restaurant is part of a $35 million investment project by the Little Cottonwood canyon resort's ownership.
Snowbird's website describes The Summit as an "upscale cafeteria-style restaurant."
