HOLLAND, Mich. (AP) — Hope College has received a $500,000 grant to establish a summer faith institute for high school students.

The Holland Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/1JbSonQ ) that Lilly Endowment Inc. supported the program called "Awakening." It is designed to deepen high school students' faith and understanding of Christian theology.

The summer program will also help students see how their own faith calls them to service and explore the moral complexity of contemporary issues.

Registration for high school sophomores and juniors will open in early 2016, and the first institute will be held during the summer of 2016.

Hope College also received grants from the Lilly Endowment in 1999 and 2002.
