DALLAS (AP) — Forecasters say two tornadoes that hit the Dallas area had winds up to more than 200 mph. National Weather Service teams are still surveying damage from Saturday's storms that left 11 people dead. Meanwhile, in southern Illinois, three adults and two children drowned after the vehicle they were riding in was swept away and sank in a rain-swollen creek.
UNDATED (AP) — Whiteout conditions and snow drifts have closed some highways in the Texas Panhandle, while historic snowfall totals are expected in nearby New Mexico. Parts of Interstate 40 west of Amarillo, Texas, and into Santa Rosa, New Mexico, are shut. Nearly 10,000 Excel Energy customers, most of them in Amarillo, have been without power.
CHICAGO (AP) — Grieving relatives and friends of two people shot and killed by Chicago police say the city's law enforcement officers had failed its residents. Quintonio LeGrier was killed early Saturday by police responding to a domestic disturbance, along with downstairs neighbor Bettie Jones. Police say Jones was hit accidentally by the gunfire.
BOSTON (AP) — A Chipotle restaurant near Boston College has reopened several weeks after 136 patrons fell ill with norovirus. Officials say the outbreak was likely caused by a sick employee, and isn't linked to E. coli cases that shuttered dozens of restaurants in Oregon and Washington in October.
ATLANTA (AP) — Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport says it hit a major milestone today.
The airport that calls itself the world's busiest announced that it had served its 100 millionth passenger this year. The passenger earning the distinction is Larry Kendrick of Mississippi, who will receive a Nissan Altima, two free Delta round trip plane tickets and a $500 gift card.
