RENO, Nev. (AP) — Interstate 80 has reopened east of Reno after a series of crashes on an icy and snowy stretch where two Nevada Highway Patrol cruisers were hit by skidding vehicles.
NHP Trooper Duncan Dauber says no serious injuries were reported among motorists, passengers and two troopers whose vehicles were involved in about 20 wrecks between about 9:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Thursday east of Sparks.
Dauber says it wasn't a pileup, but a number of spin-out crashes on a curve with poor visibility.
Dauber and Truckee Meadows Fire Chief Charles Moore say no serious injuries are reported.
The highway was closed in the Lockwood area before reopening before noon.
The National Weather Service says a winter weather advisory remains in effect in the area. Forecasts call for snow and gusty winds.
