CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — The newly-named University of Wyoming president will be paid more than $96,000 less than her predecessor Bob Sternberg.
UW trustees announced Friday that South Dakota State University administrator Laurie Nichols will take office by July 1 and be the first woman president of the Wyoming university.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1QYG0Zl ) that Nichols will earn a base salary of $350,000 annually, with a total compensation package of $458,000.
She succeeds Dick McGinity, who has been UW president for almost two years. Nichols' base salary is less than current president Dick McGinity's, but her additional benefits push her total compensation above his.
Prior to McGinity, Sternberg held the position for less than five months. Sternberg earned a base salary of $425,000 per year, with a total compensation package, adjusted for inflation, of $554,301.
