POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A former lunch worker in the Pocatello School District says she has been fired for giving a middle school student a free meal. KPVI-TV reports that Dalene Bowden received a termination letter from the district after she gave a tray of food to a girl who said she didn't have $1.70 for a hot lunch. School board chief Stephanie Gebhardt says she can't comment on Bowden's firing. But she says they have school policies in place to never let a student go hungry even if the student has no money.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The city council in the Coeur d'Alene suburb of Dalton Gardens is considering using contraceptive vaccines to curb a growing deer population. Incoming Mayor Steve Roberge says the council will discuss birth control rather than rely on trapping or hunting to reduce animal population.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — President Barack Obama has signed a disaster declaration for Idaho due to a powerful windstorm in the northern part of the state in November. Acting Idaho Gov. Brad Little on Dec. 7 declared a state of emergency with the estimated damage at $2.6 million.
LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Kyle Ingram netted a double-double, scoring 19 points with 10 rebounds as Idaho State beat Texas-Rio Grande Valley 76-64 last night. The team averaged 48.2 percent shooting from the field and 68.4 percent from the line.
