CLEVELAND (AP) — Indians infielder Zach Walters has been released from a hospital after being injured in a car accident in Las Vegas.

Cleveland spokesman Bart Swain said Wednesday that Walters is at home, "everything to this point has checked out fine" and the team will monitor the situation. Swain said Walters needed stitches over the left eye following Tuesday's accident.

The 26-year-old Walters was acquired from Washington in 2014. He spent most of last season at Triple-A Columbus and underwent surgery for a torn labrum after being injured in the International League playoffs.

A switch-hitter, Walters has a .182 career major league average in 82 games.
