CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Police in Charlotte have charged a Greyhound Bus driver with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle after the bus she was driving struck a utility pole that fell on a man on the sidewalk.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say Talaysha Brown was driving the bus out of the terminal Wednesday morning when she turned the wrong way onto Trade Street and hit a utility pole. Investigators say the driver didn't realize she had hit the pole and continued on her trip to Atlanta.
Authorities contacted the bus on Interstate 85 southbound, and it returned to the terminal.
The victim was identified by police as 52-year-old James Robert Minter. No one on the bus was hurt.
Brown is being held in the Mecklenburg County jail. Online records didn't indicate whether she has an attorney who could be contacted for comment on the case.
