SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Marcel Davis scored 19 points with five assists and the go-ahead basket, and Utah Valley held off a late run by the Texas-San Antonio to win 83-78 on Saturday.
Hayes Garrity scored 17 points with a career-high five 3-pointers, Jaden Jackson added 16 with four 3-pointers, and Konner Frey had 12 for the Wolverines (5-6), who won their third straight. Utah Valley made 11 of 24 3-pointers (46 percent) and shot 55 percent from the floor.
Up by seven at halftime, Jackson hit a 3-pointer and Utah Valley led 49-37 early in the second half. UTSA stayed close, then Nick Allen's layup tied it at 76 with 1:55 left. Davis scored two quick baskets to put the Wolverines up by four, but Gino Littles' layup made it a three-point game with 20 seconds left. Allen fouled Frey, who sealed it with two free throws.
J.R. Harris led UTSA (2-10) with 19 points.
