SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The U.S. attorney for Utah says his office is pleased with the sentence imposed on a county commissioner convicted of organizing an illegal ATV protest ride over a federal land decision. Prosecutor John Huber says the judge's 10-day jail sentence for San Juan County Commissioner Phil Lyman was thoughtful and reasoned.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Three development firms have submitted proposals to build a large hotel near Salt Lake City's convention center and take advantage of at least $75 million in possible tax credits. A county bid committee will meet on Jan. 14 to review the proposals for the 800 to 1,000 room hotel.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Sentencing for former Utah lawmaker Justin Miller has been postponed after a judge disclosed a conflict of interest in the case. Miller, a Democrat, acknowledged in October to taking about $24,000 in campaign money from his former boss, the mayor of Salt Lake County.
ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — The organizers of George First Friday Streetfest say the monthly festival in downtown St. George will continue uninterrupted despite a state fraud investigation of the event's insurance coverage. According to court documents, Streetfest did not have insurance for September and the October certificates were false.
