RICHMOND, Ind. (AP) — A farm that two Earlham College graduates left to the eastern Indiana school has sold for nearly $2 million and will pay for the renovation of a campus athletics center.
The estate of Ivan and Pauline Druley left a 240-acre farm to the private college in Richmond with the understanding that it would be sold.
The Palladium-Item reports (http://pinews.co/1YlXg0G ) that the farm recently sold at auction for $1.94 million.
Earlham College plans to use the money to resurface the campus' Athletics and Wellness Center's multi-sport practice room and indoor track. Remaining money will fund an endowment for the ongoing maintenance of that center and other campus athletic facilities.
School officials say the bequest is one of the largest alumni gifts ever donated to the Quaker-affiliated liberal arts college.
