LAS VEGAS (AP) — Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo says that while the suspected shooter is in custody, more arrests could come from the investigation of the wounding of a patrol officer at an apartment complex south of the Las Vegas Strip. Lombardo tells reporters that police are trying to figure out how the suspect slipped through a police cordon around the scene. Police say the 38-year-old man who was arrested matches the description of the shooter. His name wasn't immediately made public.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The company that sold the Las Vegas Review-Journal to billionaire casino mogul and GOP mega donor Sheldon Adelson is defending the transaction. Mike Reed is chief executive officer of New Media Investment Group's subsidiary company Gatehouse Media, which will continue to run Nevada's largest newspaper. He said Gatehouse didn't disclose the buyer due to a confidentiality agreement and rejected the notion that the paper's integrity had been challenged.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid says his party has tried everything to get gun control legislation through Congress and still keeps losing to the National Rifle Association. The Nevada Democrat suggests that maybe Democrats themselves are to blame for the failures — or maybe the American people are "gullible," even after multiple mass shootings. The comments from Reid in an interview with The Associated Press reflect deep frustrations in his conference.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Under pressure from federal safety regulators, Allegiant Air is increasing training for pilots and dispatchers after a plane landed low on fuel this summer. A spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration says the agency closed its investigation in October. An Allegiant spokeswoman says the airline has added new procedures and training.
