RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Court documents say a friend of the gunman in the San Bernardino shootings helped him plan other attacks that were never carried out against a major freeway and a local college. Enrique Marquez has been charged with terrorism-related counts. He's also charged with illegally buying the assault rifles used by Syed Farook in the massacre on Dec. 2.
VERONA, Va. (AP) — Security concerns are prompting officials in a Virginia county to close schools after parental objections to a geography lesson that included Islam. The Augusta County School Board president says schools will be closed tomorrow. He says the decision was made "out of an abundance of caution." He says there was no specific threat to students but didn't elaborate.
UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Iran's foreign minister says there "seems to be no agreement" on two key issues just hours before the latest round of Syria talks tomorrow morning in New York. FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — The FBI and U.S. Marshals Service are joining the search for a Texas teenager who was serving probation for killing four people in a 2013 drunken-driving wreck after invoking a defense that he suffered from "affluenza." Lawyers for 18-year-old Ethan Couch say his probation officer hasn't been able to reach him. His mother Tonya Couch is also being sought.
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) — A new report says temperatures in the world's lakes are rising more than in the oceans or the atmosphere. That could worsen problems such as algae blooms and oxygen-deprived dead zones where fish can't survive. The study, led by Catherine O'Reilly of Illinois State University, combined satellite and ground measurements of 235 lakes over the past 25 years.
