CHICAGO (AP) — Paris Lee scored 17 points, including eight in a decisive 16-2 second-half run, and Illinois State rallied past Illinois-Chicago 72-60 on Wednesday night.
Lee's fourth layup during the spurt gave Illinois State a 50-49 lead — its first since 28-27.
Illinois-Chicago (1-7) scored the last four points of a see-saw first half to lead 31-28 at the break. The Flames pushed the lead to 45-37 with 15:20 left in the game when Paris Burns scored seven unanswered points.
From that point, however, Illinois State outscored the Flames 35-15 as half-court pressure and a season-high eight blocked shots disrupted Chicago's offense.
MiKyle McIntosh scored 14 points with 11 rebounds — the first double-double this season for the Redbirds (5-6). DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell added 18 points.
Dominique Matthews scored 20 for the Flames, Burns added 14.
