LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming football coach Craig Bohl has signed a junior college cornerback.
Rico Gafford was a two-year starter at Iowa Western Community College. He signed with Wyoming Wednesday.
Bohl says the 5-foot-11, 180-pound Gafford will bring speed and athleticism to the Cowboy secondary.
Gafford recorded 44 total tackles, including 32 solo tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss, this past season. He recovered two fumbles and added two interceptions and four pass breakups.
He also played some on offense, rushing 11 times for 45 yards, and returned kickoffs.
Gafford is the first student-athlete to sign with the Cowboy Football program for this recruiting season.
