EDMONDS, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say two high school students have been expelled from the Edmonds School District and booked into a juvenile detention center on harassment charges over racially charged threats made online.
Edmonds police spokesman Shane Hawley said Tuesday that two boys, ages 15 and 16, made threats in a Facebook group against black students and against the entire student body at Edmonds-Woodway High School.
Police say the statements included descriptions of how they intended to kill someone, using the word lynching. The suspects also allegedly made references to having "dead bodies" all over the school.
Another student told school officials last week, prompting the expulsions and police investigation.
Police say the teens admitted making the comments, but denied any intention of carrying out the threats and said they were just trying to be funny.
