NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — Police are searching for an assailant who fatally shot a woman outside a vehicle on a remote Las Vegas-area freeway ramp overnight.
North Las Vegas police Officer Aaron Patty said Monday the woman was pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center after the shooting about 11 p.m. Sunday off an Interstate 15 ramp at Lamb Boulevard.
That's about 8 miles northeast of downtown Las Vegas.
Patty says it appears the woman was a passenger in a vehicle that stopped on the side of the road before she got out and was shot multiple times.
Descriptions of the shooter and vehicle weren't immediately made public.
Patty says at least one witness reported seeing the shooting from a distance.
