CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — An attorney in southwest Idaho says a highway district commissioner refused to allow a court-ordered inspection of his property after being accused of storing surplus scrap metal on his property. The Idaho Press-Tribune reports that John McEvoy of Caldwell has pleaded not guilty to the contempt charge. A trial date has been set for February 10.

MERIDIAN, Idaho (AP) — Meridian police say a man apparently impersonated a police officer when he stopped and questioned two teens. The mother of a 13-year-old boy contacted authorities on Saturday night. The teen told officers he was with a 14-year-old friend when they were approached by an adult man who identified himself as a law enforcement officer. Police say the man took a picture of the 13-year-old's school ID card.

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah (AP) — Residents in one Utah community have begun placing decoy packages on front porches in an effort to thwart holiday-delivery thieves. Kroger Menzer tells KSL-TV that residents in the Daybreak neighborhood of South Jordan are placing rocks, old clothes and junk televisions in shipping boxes, and are also using surveillance video to stop thefts. Police also recommend picking up packages at delivery service locations.

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — Konner Frey scored 19 points and led six players in double figures as Utah Valley beat Idaho State 100-76 this weekend. Ali Faruq-Bey led the Bengals (3-5) with 22 points. Ben Wilson added 14 points, three assists and two rebounds.
