SALT LAKE CITY — BYU and Utah kick off the 90th edition of the rivalry Saturday at 12:30 p.m. PST in the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl, and KSL will have live coverage of the week in Sin City starting Tuesday.

How will the Cougars perform in this game while knowing that head coach Bronco Mendenhall and most of the coaching staff is headed to Virginia after the bowl? Will it be a distraction?

Coaches and players say no, and that the team remains focused on ending a four-game losing skid to their rivals from the north.

Meanwhile on the hill, the Utes expected a much bigger bowl game than their second-straight trip to Las Vegas. But after learning their opponent, the players and coaches admitted they were thrilled to face the Cougars in Southern Nevada.

Almost three quarters of the team has never played in the game, and the older players have been preparing them for the intensity of the rivalry.

Click the videos above for a few reasons to get excited for the first bowl game between the longtime rivals, as well as three minutes to remind us why we all enjoy it so much — with some of the best moments in the series, from both sides.
