HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) — John Brown scored 28 points and High Point cruised to a 111-74 victory over Division II Virginia-Wise on Sunday.
Brown was 12 of 15 from the field. Lorenzo Cugini had 14 points and Ricky Madison added 13 for High Point (8-2), which is off to its best start since going 7-2 in 1994-95.
Gervelle Kidd scored 16 points to lead Virginia-Wise. Philip Owens II had 12 points and Camryn Fort added 11.
Kidd made back-to-back 3-pointers to open the second half and pulled the Cavaliers to 52-49. Brown scored six straight points to spark a 20-4 run and the Panthers led 72-53 with 12 minutes left.
High Point scored a season-high 111 points and has won five straight games since its 3-point loss at Georgia on Nov. 25. The Panthers play at North Carolina State on Wednesday.
