MONTICELLO, Utah (AP) — A Monticello police officer has been placed on administrative leave after he was arrested in connection with another man at the home of the officer's estranged wife.

San Juan County Sheriff Rick Eldredge says police Sgt. Jesse Cole Young was arrested on Dec. 4 after he allegedly walked into the home and attacked the woman's friend.

The Desert News reports (http://tinyurl.com/pdsqm5e) Young is being investigated for suspicion of assault and criminal trespass. No charges had been filed as of Friday. Jail records show Young no longer is in custody.

The city of Monticello said in a statement on its Web site that "it's never a happy time to see one of your officers arrested." But city officials say they will cooperate with investigators to make sure justice is served.
