GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona is playing host to Minnesota tonight in the NFL game. The Cardinals, who have the second-best record in the NFC behind unbeaten Carolina, leads the NFC West while the Vikings are tied with Green Bay for first in the NFC North.

HOUSTON (AP) — There's good news and bad news for the Houston Texans. The good news is that All-Pro defense end J.J. Watt will be able to play in this Sunday's game with New England, while the bad news is he has a broken left hand. Watt suffered the injury in practice Wednesday.

NEW YORK (AP) — Pro Football Hall of Famer John Madden has undergone open heart surgery. The NFL says the former coach of the Raiders and longtime broadcaster has been released from a San Francisco hospital. The 79-year-old is expected to make a full recovery.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Mets have reportedly landed the services of former All-Star shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera (ahs-DROO'-buhl kah-BREHR'-uh). A person familiar with the deal has told The Associated Press that the free agent has agreed to a two-year, $18.5 million contract. The 30-year-old veteran hit .265 with 15 homers and 58 RBIs for Tampa Bay last season.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The NBA Eastern Conference-leading Cleveland Cavaliers will have All-Star guard Kyrie (KY'-ree) Irving back a lot sooner than expected. Coach David Blatt says that Irving, who has been out since breaking his left kneecap in last season's NBA Finals, may play either tomorrow in Orlando or Saturday in Boston. Blatt added that fellow starting guard Iman (EE'-mahn) Shumpert is also close to a return after missing Cleveland's first 21 games with a wrist injury sustained before training camp.
