BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Law enforcement leaders across Idaho are considering whether to seek new laws detailing how they collect and retain video footage and who gets access to the images. The use of body cameras, dash cameras and jail security cameras means that police and sheriff departments nationwide are gathering more data than ever and receiving more public records requests for the images. Idaho law requires that the videos be stored for two years, but that amount of digital storage can get expensive for the agencies.

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho Falls man has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the roadside beating death of another man. The Post-Register reports that 23-year-old Tanner Cox has been convicted in the death of 36-year-old Josh Olzak. A prosecutor says he hasn't decided on a sentencing recommendation yet.

BLACKFOOT, Idaho (AP) — Eastern Idaho authorities say they're looking for a man with violent tendencies who walked away from a mental health facility over the weekend. Police say 33-year-old Dustin Jarret Hinkle left State Hospital South on Saturday morning. Authorities say Hinkle might be headed for Boise or Billings, Montana.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Lt. Gov. Brad Little has declared a state of emergency for northern Idaho in response to a windstorm that wiped out power for tens of thousands of Idahoans in November. Little, who is serving as governor while Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter is out of the state, has announced that Benewah, Bonner, Boundary and Kootenai counties will be authorized to use state and federal funds to help pay for the estimated $2.6 million cost of damages.
