PAYSON, Utah (AP) — A teenager was killed on his 14th birthday when he was hit by two cars while crossing the street on the way to school in Payson, Utah.

KUTV in Salt Lake City reports (http://bit.ly/1XWZ0rs) that Payson Police say Adam Renik was struck early Monday. He died at the scene.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.

Renik's father, Tim Renik, told KUTV that his son was a wonderful boy with a giving spirit.

Nebo School District spokeswoman Lana Hiskey says Adam Renik was adored by students and staff at his school.

Scott Haney, the bishop in the family's Mormon congregation, says the teenager was a great kid who participated in Boy Scouts and other church activities.
