NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The man accused of shooting a Tulane medical student who tried to stop a kidnapping and robbery of a woman has been indicted by a New Orleans grand jury.

NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune (http://bit.ly/1IsfshK ) reports 21-year-old Euric Cain was charged Thursday with attempted first-degree murder, attempted aggravated kidnapping, armed robbery and attempted armed robbery with a firearm. State District Judge Franz Zibilich set Cain's bond at $6 million.

Cain's 17-year-old girlfriend, Nictoria Washington, was charged with being an accessory after the fact to attempted first-degree murder. Her bond was set at $500,000.

The indictment came less than two weeks after Peter Gold was shot in the stomach when he intervened as a woman was being robbed early Nov. 20. Gold survived, and has been released from the hospital.
