MUNICH (AP) — Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has returned to training after missing almost nine months with an ankle injury.

The 32-year-old former France international has not played since he was injured on March 11 in a Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Ribery tells Bayern's television channel that "it is a super day for me, very emotional." He hopes to play again before the Christmas break.

Bayern has five matches until the break.

Pep Guardiola's team is undefeated in the Bundesliga and has qualified for the knockout stage of the Champions League.

Bayern has signed two wingers, Douglas Costa and Kingsley Coman, as backups for Ribery and the injury-prone Arjen Robben.
