SYDNEY (AP) — Australian swimmer Mitchell Larkin set a short-course world record in the 200-meter backstroke final at the national titles on Friday.
Larkin's time of 1 minute, 45.63 seconds was almost a half-second faster than the previous mark of 1:46.11 set by Russia's Arkady Vyatchanin at the short-course worlds in 2009.
Larkin won the 100- and 200-meter backstroke double at the world swimming championships in Kazan, Russia, in August.
