LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a 52-year-old Las Vegas-area substitute school bus driver faces felony charges following his arrest on child sex, child abuse and lewdness charges. Police report that Ramiro Garcia was arrested Saturday, and court records showed that Garcia was released from jail on bond pending a court appearance Feb. 8. The name of Garcia's lawyer wasn't listed in court records.
RENO, Nevada (AP) — Nevada prison officials say a 29-year-old inmate has died at a Reno hospital after being hospitalized multiple times. The Nevada Department of Corrections said James Wilson died Monday at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno. The agency didn't provide a cause of Wilson's death or reveal what he had been treated for before in multiple trips to the hospital before his death.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Lake Tahoe is under a winter storm warning and thousands of customers in northern Nevada are without power as a cold front packing winds gusting up to 60 mph makes its way into the Sierra. NV Energy reported about 3,000 outages around Reno and Carson City before noon yesterday. A winter storm advisory is in effect until 4 this afternoon around Reno.
LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) — Derrick Jones Jr. had 26 points and 10 rebounds and Patrick McCaw added 25 points for UNLV which pulled away in the second half for a 93-73 victory over Chaminade yesterday in the consolation round of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational. The Runnin' Rebels (4-1) will face No. 13 Indiana, which beat St. John's 83-73, for fifth place today.
