NIBLEY, Utah (AP) — Police have arrested a man in Nibley they say called 911 with reports of a gunman in a store to get out of a traffic stop.
Authorities arrested 27-year-old Jimmie Willis on Thursday on several counts, including obstruction of justice and making a false alarm.
According to Logan police, an officer pulled Willis over in Logan near a Wal-Mart.
While the officer was in his patrol vehicle, Willis allegedly dialed 911 and told the dispatcher there was a gunman in the Wal-Mart threatening to shoot bystanders.
Responding officers realized it was a hoax and traced the call to Willis' home.
He surrendered and was booked into Cache County Jail.
It was not known Saturday if he had gotten an attorney.
