SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — An employee of Salt Lake City's Eagle Gate College says the college denied him benefits and forced him out of a job because he is in a same-sex marriage. Dustin Kennedy has filed suit against the college. An attorney for the college says same-sex marriage wasn't legal when Kenney worked there between 2007 and 2011.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A company seeking permission to bury nuclear waste in Utah has agreed to buy a Texas company with a site already approved to house the material. Utah-based EnergySolutions announced this week it has agreed to buy Texas-based Waste Control Specialists, which was given permission in 2014 to dispose of the depleted uranium at its site.

DUCHESNE, Utah (AP) — Duchesne County Recorder Shelley Brennan and a former title company employee are facing misdemeanor charges after a confrontation over a cellphone at the county administration building. The Deseret News reports the confrontation was captured on video. Neither would comment on the case.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Randy Horiuchi, a longtime Salt Lake County politician who suffered a stroke in 2012, has died at the age of 61. Horiuchi served 22 years on the Salt Lake County Council and former Salt Lake County Commission before announcing he would not seek re-election in 2014.
