EMMETT, Idaho (AP) — A 23-year-old man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death at their Nampa home told police he had planned to shoot her with a rifle.
KTVB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1SLG8dpc ) that that Brandon Shaw appeared in Gem County court Thursday and was charged with first-degree murder.
According to charging papers, 23-year-old Chelsey Rae Malone was stabbed several times outside her home while trying to run from Shaw. Shaw was interviewed by a Nampa police detective and told the officer that he had moved out of the home he shared with Malone after they had been not getting along.
He told the detective he tried to file a rifle at her but the weapon did not discharge. As Malone fled, he chased after her and stabbed her with two kitchen knives.
