DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) — Global Magician overhauled pacesetter Signature Cat in the stretch to win the $53,000 feature by 1 1/4 lengths Thursday at Del Mar.
Ridden by Victor Espinoza, Global Magician ran five furlongs on turf in 57.18 seconds and paid $5, $3 and $2.40 as the 3-2 favorite for trainer Peter Miller.
Signature Cat returned $5.20 and $3.60, while Gutsy Ruler was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $9.80 to show.
Doug O'Neill, who saddled four straight winners on Sunday, added two more to close within three of 2,000 in his career.
Rafael Bejarano rode three winners on the card, in the second, fourth and eighth races.
