MILAN (AP) — Mario Balotelli has undergone a pelvis operation that will keep him out of Serie A action with AC Milan for another month.
Milan says the striker had the procedure performed in Munich on Wednesday, adding that the recuperation period is "four weeks, excluding complications."
Balotelli wrote on Instagram, "All done! All good! Coming back soon."
On loan from Liverpool, Balotelli has made just four Serie A appearances for Milan, with one goal scored. He last played Sept. 27.
Not likely to return until after the holiday break, Balotelli will need a strong second half of the season to be called up to Italy's squad for the European Championship.
Balotelli has not played for Italy since the Azzurri were eliminated in the first round at last year's World Cup.
